My days of breaking things inadvertently seem to be thankfully behind me by now.

Where are you spending most of your time these days? Not that there's many places to be at the moment.

[Well... best to speak "technical truths" without revealing too much. Tohsaka takes a seat at the same table on the opposite side of him.]

I'm not very strong, so after I heard about what happened over that extremely serious communion announcement I decided to start looking into texts this world had on alchemy and alchemical necromancy. I just want to do what I can to help, you know?

[More like she doesn't want to become another Unfortunate Test Subject.]

I completely understand. My own skill at magecraft is rather weak. So focusing on what you're best at is probably for the better.

[ He gives her a curious glance. ]

I assume that they had magic in your world; not all places have a regimented study of it. Did yours?

[erbe]

[Tohsaka replies with a gentle affirmative by the ways of an, "Mm-hm." Her hands take hold of the menu and her eyes rove over the letters.]

Mages are incredibly secretive, though. So most who learn come from a family line that has been practicing for ages.

Mmm.

[ He seems thoughtful about that. ]

I know some guard their secrets jealously, but Faerghus had a mage academy in our capital. One of the best in Fodlan.

Oh, sounds a little like Clock Tower in London. Does having magecraft as a widespread phenomena not cause trouble, though?

[Look at Constance and Annette and then tell her no, Dimitri. Tell her.]

...it's hard for me to say. Magic is as much a part of our society and life as something like... farming. Or blacksmithing. Some people misuse the power they learn for ill, but is that not the same of anything?

[ Constance did nothing wrong. ]

Would you say the same of all types of powers?

[hauntedking]

I think it varies by degrees. Some... obviously... can be misused to much more terrible ends.

[erbe]

[Philosophical debates can get too dangerous, so she decides to change the subject.]

What's your favorite item on the menu?

Oh - I'm quite fond of their tea collection.

[ He glances down at the menu. ]

Especially their herbal blend.

[erbe]

Very well! I'll have what you're having.

[Tohsaka hands her menu to him. The taste fates remain in his tasteless hands.]

Wonderful-!

[ He smiles and flags down a server to order. Fortunately for her, his nose still works the herbal tea is good... so she'll be spared something like Flayn's cooking this time around. ]

[She manages to add a little order of pastries to their request. Delightful Cheese Danishes to compliment their tea.]

So, how long have you been here?

[hauntedking]

...a few months at the very least. Half a year, maybe?

[ He's trying to remember. He hasn't kept good count of the days, in all honesty. ]

[Oh, that... sounds very similar to the answer Gray gave her.]

Have things changed all that much in your time here?

[hauntedking]

...there have been more bearers appearing. And the tension between the two factions feels as if it's ratcheted up.

[ He sighs. ]

And this blight has become more prevalent.

[For the Meridians as a whole, right? Because it's filled with a bunch of optimistic weirdos?]

[ He doesn't quite follow. ]

Mm... you seem to be the type to get upset about conflict and would rather people just "talk it out". Am I wrong?

[Even if he can handle it she views him as the "bleeding-heart" type.]
