[ Lottie is just about as obsessed with her new polaroid as she is herself, which makes for a fun combination talking a walk around town and just snapping random photos. She's brought a tote bag to hang on her shoulder, various little photos shoved inside. Without any worries of running out of film she's been on a warpath, effectively cementing everything inside her bag of goodies.
Which is why she doesn't particularly notice the man who has been intensely staring at her. Only notices his presence after the image develops on the picture and she sees.. Yup. Dimitri just unintentionally dogging her with his single eye in front of the pretty, festive, display she meant to photograph.
For a second, she looks confused. Concerned?
Then intrigued.
Then concerned again, before lifting her head up to try and find him. ]
[ Dimitri isn't out to do anything in particular; he's running a personal errand, little more, and taking in the sights of Springstar. It helps keep him centered. What grabs his attention about Lottie is the strange device she seems to be pointing at things - or really, him, from his perspective. He blinks at the sound of a little click and something... spits out of the box? He hovers for a moment, quite taken by it for a moment, but unsure of what to say.
Oh, he's been caught. He lifts a hand, as if to ward off an objection as she looks up to see him. ]
...apologies, I didn't mean to stare. I just - I don't know what that is.
[ The hand does help. Lottie is obscenely flighty, especially with people she doesn't know, so she stays still as he starts. And.. What he says certainly isn't what she expected?! She really needs to remember that not everyone is from 2019. ]
..You mean, this?
[ She brings up the polaroid that she's been holding onto, the image still fading into existence as they speak. And then, she switches β brings up the actual camera itself into view (its pink, with white accents detailing the lens of the camera, itself). ]
[ Oh.. Telescopic device. He must be super old. Not old currently, just time wise (she's come to accept timey-wimey shenanigans at this point fairly easily). She approaches, a little closer, tentatively holding up the camera first. Her nails taps at the lens. ]
Kind of? I guess it's the same concept as a telescope but it doesn't zoom in.. You can look through it on the other side [ she flips it around to show him where your eye goes!! ] and you can see what you'll.. Capture.
[ She tucks her hair behind her ear. ]
And I was just getting the stuff behind you. I didn't even notice you at first until I looked at the pic!
[ He hesitantly bends down a bit to get a glimpse of the lens with his good eye, looking rather curious. Capture? How does it capture something? ]
It... creates pictures? [ He grasps that concept easily enough. And he's more than a little amazed as he glances at the polaroid. Baffled, awed, curious. It's a mixture of emotions. ]
But - how does it do that? It's certainly not paint. And it looks so real. Like a moment snatched out of time.
[ It isn't paint, and it looks real because in a way it is. Documenting one wild moment of both their lives, with Lottie taking the photo and Dimitri unintentionally posing for it. She can explain how it does it later (does she know the science behind it?? Nope! Will she pretend like she does?? Yes!), right now she gently offers him the photo in question. ]
Feel it. It's way different than what you're expecting.
[ Dimitri is fascinated. He takes the glossy photo carefully and holds it between his fingers, tentatively feeling the surface. It's... reflective. Some kind of film? Not glass, certainly. He's still puzzling over it when he replies. ]
That's... fascinating. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was magic.
[ Although a part of him still thinks of it as such. ]
[It is time. There is no reason to waste it. The earlier she gets this done the more information they'll have. At times like these she is glad. Thankful to be raised as a mage with the emphasis on unshakeable elegance. With no hint of farce in her sincerity she reaches out measured and sureβ]
Mr. Blaiddyd, have I reached you? It's Ayako. Now that I have been here long enough to settle I have spent my efforts on a fitting gift. Please allow me to express my gratitude for how you saved me that night in Alenroux.
[ There's almost immediately a sense of warmth and friendliness. ]
I hadn't heard from you in a while and wasn't sure I would, but I'm glad to hear you've managed to settle in. You needn't thank me, I was simply doing what needed to be done.
[Usually Tohsaka would just take his overwhelming desire to help for granted, but right now it's being a pain. She'll definitely have to put her foot down.]
Please, Mr. Blaiddyd. As a matter of my pride, I implore you to allow me to do this. I would be quite shamed if you refused my hard work and sincere feelings.
Oh, I do hope you like it. Though I dare not speak of its specifics until we meet. It's a gift after all! I would be remiss if I did not get to see the look on your face at the reveal.
[Tohsaka is actually just a wee bit early, but not early enough to beat Dimitri. Though she does dress quite light because it isn't often she allows herself over to Alenroux or Springstar anymore. Just an occasional visit, so this time in the sun is incredibly precious. Her arms are exposed, and the little red skirt she wears flutters about the tops of her thighs. Her thigh-high stockings are replaced with knee-socks, and her aspect tattoo shows quite clearly in this get up.]
Oh, you're already here. I hope I haven't kept you waiting.
[ Dimitri is dressed down a bit - high-waisted trousers and a flowing shirt that's been opened at the neck a little to let him breathe. For once he's not in armor. He offers Tohsaka a smile as she arrives. ]
Think nothing of it. I tend to be early so I'm not late!
[ He gives her a once-over. Red again. She does seem to like that color. ]
[That's right, let your eyes roam. Being able to soak in the sun is only but one of her many excuses to wear this outfit.]
Quite well, thank you. And I'm only able to because of you.
[Oh yeah, lay on that "I'm obligated to repay you" on real thick. Rin reaches into her pocket (yes the skirt has pockets) and fishes out a crescent brooch. Sapphires and diamonds cradled by silver and sparkling in the sunlight. She doesn't offer it to him just yet, but she does hold her palm open and upward so he can look upon it.]
I can do a little magic, so I placed a shielding spell on this brooch. I'm not very skilled or powerful, but I hope it can save you by buying you some time in a pinch.
[Hah. While "Ayako" may say she's not skilled, Tohsaka herself would brag quite a bit more. She's proud of this little ruse. The shielding spell means that if someone were to search for the brooch for being "magical" there is an explanation. Why is that little trinket filled with energy? Oh, just a protection spell. No big deal!]
